As technology continues to contribute relentlessly to the deconstruction of the workforce, the workday, and the workplace there is yet one more arena where the world is upside down – the job interview. In this TIME magazine article not only do we have a description of the growing trend to use videophone to save on airfare and commute time to conduct interviews but there are also tips on how to make a good on-screen first impression.

One tip not in the article based on a story a large insurance industry client shared with me: when asked during a videophone interview what you think about the company and its mission and values, don’t type in the company’s name into Google to see what comes up!
